CRO. SERB PARTY HEAD URGES CRO. REFUGEES IN YU TO VOTE AT CRO. POLL

BELGRADE, April 26 (Hina) - The president of Croatia's Serb People's Party (SNS) called on Thursday on Croatian refugees in Yugoslavia to vote en masse at impending local elections in Croatia. A Belgrade-based association helping Croatian Serb refugees issued a statement about SNS president Milan Djukic's visit to Yugoslavia in which it conveyed his call to the refugees to "turn up en masse at Croatia's upcoming county and municipal elections." These elections are "of historical importance" for Croatian Serbs, Djukic said, and suggested arranging bus lines to Croatia for that purpose or visiting Croatia "in those days." Djukic called on Croatian Serb refugees in Yugoslavia to "return to their (pre-war) homes and begin a new, better life." In Yugoslavia he visited several refugee centres which he described as "reminiscent of concentration camps from the past war (WW2)." According to the statement, Djukic said that unlike in the recent past, Croatia was now a more law-based state. The multitude of non- governmental organisations and international factors "guarantees the basic human rights to all Croatian citizens," he added. (hina) ha sb
