SNS leader Milan Djukic said at a news conference on Monday that
such manner of conducting the national census "has been in a
perfidious way conceived by the (incumbent) Croatian government so
as to have as less Serbs in Croatia as possible and thus complete a
national interest of the former HDZ government."
The rights of a national minority are linked with the number of
members of the minority, and this is contrary to human rights,
Djukic asserted.
Croatia will thus have over 90 instead of 78 percent of Croats in
political structures, and will be one of the ethnically purest
countries in southeastern Europe, he added.
Djukic stressed that how many Serbs would be listed during the
census did matter, as this figure would determine their
participation in authorities.
Somebody will have to answer the question of where 300,000 Serbs
have disappeared, he told reporters.
