ZAGREB, April 23 (Hina) - The Association of Independent Trade
Unions of Croatia (SSSH) and the Democratic League of Free Trade
Unions of Hungary (LIGA) on Monday signed a statement on their
cooperation.
According to the agreement signed by Davor Juric on behalf of SSSH
and Istvan Gasko on behalf of LIGA, the two federations will promote
cooperation in negotiations on wages, the unionist training and
protection of workers' and human rights.
During their two-day-stay in Croatia, Hungarian unionists and
their hosts discussed wage policies, unemployment and reforms in
the pension insurance and public health.
Speaking about the current economic situation in his country, Gasko
said at a news conference that with the present trend in the
Hungarian economic growth, the unemployment rate would probably
soon fall from the current seven percent to three percent.
In Hungary, the unemployment rate is calculated according to the
methodology of the International Labour Organisation. If this
method were used in Croatia, the unemployment rate would be 14
percent instead of 23 percent which is the official figure.
