The book is published by the Croatian History Institute.
"This is the first integral written history of the Croatian people
which unites all three Croatian kingdoms in one crown," Institute
head Mirko Valentic told a news conference.
He added the 17th century had been a "stellar century we know the
least about, a time when efforts were being made to liberate
Croatian territories from the Turks." Rattkay had gone to Vienna to
publish the book, wishing to present his people in the best light
and point to their particular aspects, namely say that Vienna,
under whose crown they were at the time, could not decide about the
Croats without them, said Valentic.
He also added the Croatian people was the leading in the world as to
the number of books and other documents written in Latin.
