MOSTAR MOSTAR, April 2 (Hina) - A trial of 13 Bosniaks from the southern Bosnia-Herzegovina town of Mostar, suspected of committing war crimes against Croats in 1993, started before the Herzegovina-Neretva Canton Court on Monday upon
the approval of the Hague war crimes tribunal. Second indictee Mirsad Cupina, who headed a prison in which Croat Defence Council (HVO) members were detained, pleaded not guilty to all charges. First indictee Mirsad Handzar and another two Bosniak indictees are currently in the United States and will be tried in absentia. The 13 Bosniaks who are being tried for war crimes against Croats are a part of a group of 21 Mostar Bosniaks for whom the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) in The Hague agreed that they be tried in Mostar.
