The three-day event has pooled guests from 19 countries, among whom are European legal experts, members of parliaments and government staff from candidate-countries and countries in the process of stabilisation and association. The aim of the symposium is the exchange of experience in dealing with legal issues in the process of association with the EU, said the organisers, the Croatian Ministry for European Integration and the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation from Bonn. ZAGREB, April 5 (Hina) - An international symposium on the
application of the European law in countries candidates for
membership in the European Union began in Zagreb on Thursday.
The three-day event has pooled guests from 19 countries, among whom
are European legal experts, members of parliaments and government
staff from candidate-countries and countries in the process of
stabilisation and association.
The aim of the symposium is the exchange of experience in dealing
with legal issues in the process of association with the EU, said
the organisers, the Croatian Ministry for European Integration and
the German Foundation for International Legal Cooperation from
Bonn.
The symposium, which closes on Saturday, will tackle the practical
aspects in the adjustment of legislation before joining the EU, the
need of introducing the European system, measures to combat
corruption, the results of a Nice Summit in connection with EU
enlargement towards Southeast Europe, EU legislation on
environmental protection, the economic aspect of the European law,
and legal issues related to the protection of copyrights.
