ZAGREB, March 14 (Hina) - Parliament's lower house adopted on Wednesday with a majority vote laws on civil servants and salaries in public services. The civil servants law replaces the former system of qualifications and functions
with a new one of standardised jobs, while the law on salaries in public services introduces a system of payment coefficients. The government turned down most amendments to the bill on salaries in public services, including the one whereby health employees would be excluded from the law. Vladimir Seks of the Opposition's Croatian Democratic Union party said the law was not passed properly as it was an organic law which required more than the 72 votes in favour it received.(hina) ha sb
