PAKRAC, March 17 - Croatian Christian Democratic Union (HKDU) President Anto Kovacevic on Saturday offered coalition to the Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) at the coming local election, and HDZ leader Ivo Sanader accepted the
proposal. "If (Drazen) Budisa and (Ivica) Racan managed to find a common language, I see no reason for Ivo Sanared and Anto Kovacevic not to do it," Kovacevic said during a HDZ panel in the town of Pakrac, where he was a guest. Budisa and Racan are the leaders of the Croatian Social Liberal Party (HSLS) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP) respectively, which together mustered the biggest number of the vote at the last parliamentary elections. HDZ President Sanader, accepted the offer from the HKDU, adding that he would forward letters to all HDZ branches in Croatia recommending them to strike up a coalition with the HKDU for the coming municipal ballot.(hina) ms
