ATHENS, Feb 28 (Hina) - A Croatian government delegation headed by Prime Minister Ivica Racan on Wednesday ended their two-day official visit to Greece which, according to assessments by both sides, gave an important contribution to
the promotion of political and economic cooperation between the two countries. Racan, Greece President Vlado Kostas Simitis and other Greek senior officials expressed during talks readiness for Croatia and Greece to, as politically most stable countries in the north-east and south parts of Europe's unstable South-East, promote cooperation to their own and the entire region's benefit. Prime Minister Ivica Racan on Wednesday ended their two-day
official visit to Greece which, according to assessments by both
sides, gave an important contribution to the promotion of political
and economic cooperation between the two countries.
Racan, Greece President Vlado Kostas Simitis and other Greek senior
officials expressed during talks readiness for Croatia and Greece

Greece's support to Croatia's drawing closer to the EU was
confirmed with the organisation of a meeting between Racan, Simitis
and Swedish Prime Minister Goeran Persson who visited Athens. After
the meeting Racan announced the agreement on stabilisation and
association between Croatia and the EU would be initialled in May.
During the Croatian delegation's visit to Greece, the two sides
signed agreements on the construction of five ships in Croatia's
shipyards, worth 171 million dollars; support was provided for
Croatia's company Koncar which is participating in bids for
equipping two Greek hydro electric power plants; and Greece showed
readiness to participate in this year's project of reconstruction
of an electric power plant in Ernestinovo, which is worth 50 million
dollars, as well as in joint projects in infrastructure and
tourism.
Croatia and Greece also signed an agreement on air traffic and
initialled an agreement on maritime traffic which will be signed
this May during the visit of Greek President Simitis to Zagreb.
Accompanying Prime Minister Racan were also Economy Minister
Goranko Fizulic, Maritime Affairs, Transport and Communications
Minister Alojz Tusek, European Integration Minister Ivan Jakovcic,
and Deputy Foreign Minister Vesna Cvjetkovic-Kurelec.
