RIGA, Feb 28 (Hina) - A Croatian parliamentary delegation headed by speaker Zlatko Tomcic began its visit to Latvia by meeting the president of parliament, Janis Straume, on Wednesday morning. The two officials agreed the good
parliamentary cooperation between the two countries provided a good ground for strengthening bilateral cooperation, especially in the economy. Tomcic and Straume also discussed the two countries' common goal, joining the European Union. Straume said Latvia hoped for Swedish assistance in negotiations with the Union, which Sweden currently presides. The Croatian delegation later met Latvian Prime Minister Andris Berzins and Foreign Minister Indulis Berzins. It will be received also by Latvia's chief negotiator with the EU, Edvards Kusners, and head of state Vaira Vike Freiberga.(hina) ha
