HOUSE OF COUNTIES STARTS DISCUSSION ON AMENDMENTS TO LABOUR ACT

ZAGREB, Feb 7 (Hina) - The Croatian parliament's House of Representatives started its session on Tuesday with a discussion on amendments to the labour act. Croatia's labour legislation is adjusting to the European standards by amending about 70 articles of the labour act, Labour and Welfare Minister Davorko Vidovic said at the session. We needed to adjust demands of employers and employees. Even though we made several compromises, this is a high quality bill, the Minister said elaborating the amendments to the law. According to Vidovic, the most important amendments are the change of the name employee to worker, the increase of the competence of workers' councils, additional protection of working minors, and a regulation under which the employer has to give the worker his payroll account even if the worker has not received his wage.
