ZAGREB, Feb 5 (Hina) - The Zagreb-based State Prosecutor's office
on Monday issued an indictment against two Bosnian Croats - Ante
Sliskovic and Tomislav Vlajic, for the forgery of documents and
certification of false documents.
The two men are suspects of war atrocities against Moslem villagers
in Ahmici, central Bosnia, during the Croat-Moslem conflict in
1993.
As regards Ahmici crimes, the Zagreb state prosecution proposed the
extension of an investigation and interviews of more witnesses. The
Prosecutor's Office has proposed to an investigating judge to hear
witnesses who have not yet been questioned although were suggested
as witnesses in documents which instigated the probe.
The prosecution asked the Croatian government's office in charge of
cooperation with the UN war crimes court (ICTY) to gain an insight
into the documentation about the Ahmici case.
Ante Sliskovic and Tomislav Vlajic as well as another two Bosnian
Croats - Vlado Cosic and Pasko Ljubicic - who are on the run - are
suspected of being involved into the massacre of 116 civilians and
the demolition of the village of Ahmici in April 1993.
The prosecution will decide whether to indict the four men of the
war crime against civilians, after it is acquainted with the
documentation the Hague-based ICTY possesses on the matter and
after the investigation is extended.
In September last year Sliskovic and Vlajic were apprehended in the
Croatian coastal town of Zadar where they lived under false
identity. Cosic and Ljubicic lived in the same town under false
identity as well but they escaped during a police operation aimed at
their apprehension, and international warrants have been issued
for their arrest.
