MOSTAR, Feb 4 (Hina) - The ten-party coalition called "Alliance For
Changes", led by the Social Democratic Party (SDP) will propose the
incumbent head of Bosnia-Herzegovina's Academy of Arts and
Sciences, Bozidar Matic, as a new premier-designate of the
country's government, the Council of Ministers of Bosnia-
Herzegovina, sources from this coalition confirmed on Sunday.
Bosnia's three-man Presidency has recently accepted its member
Ante Jelavic's proposal that Martin Raguz of the Croatian
Democratic Union of Bosnia-Herzegovina (HDZ BiH) should be a
premier-designate.
The Alliance, however, opposed this proposal reiterating its stand
that there is no longer place for members of national parties such
as HDZ BiH, the Moslem-led Party of Democratic Action (SDA) and the
Serb democratic party (SDS) in new bodies of the executive power.
Bozidar Matic, a Croat born in 1937 in a village near Sarajevo, is
one of the most prominent Bosnian business people and scientists.
He is currently the deputy of the director-general of a Bosnian
leading company "Energoinvest". So far he has not held any
important political office.
According to the Sarajevo press, the Alliance will propose Mladen
Ivankovic, a manager in the successful meat-processing industry
'Lijanovici' based in the (Croat-populated) western Herzegovina
region, to be Economy Minister in the Council. Another successful
businessman from western Herzegovina, Milan Lovric, who is the
director of the Mostar Fair, will be the Alliance's candidate for
Trade Minister. The two, who come from the area known as a
stronghold of the HDZ, have also no significant experience in high
politics.
According to the Sarajevo press, another Croat candidate of the
Alliance is Nikola Grabovac, a professor at the Faculty of Economy
in Sarajevo and a member of the New Croatian Initiative (NHI), who
should take over the office of the Finance Minister in the
Federation's government.
Ivo Komsic, a member of the SDP, is likely to be the Alliance's
candidate for the President of the Croat-Moslem Federation.
