RIJEKA, Dec 21 (Hina) - Deputy Rijeka County state prosecutor Doris Hrast, involved in the trial against Tihomir Oreskovic and other members of the Gospic group indicted for crimes against civilians in the central Croatian town in
1991, on Thursday filed a request for an investigation into a new suspect, the former commanding officer of a military barracks in Perusic, Stjepan Grandic. Grandic was arrested in Gospic Tuesday and was questioned by an investigative judge Wednesday who ordered a 48 hour custody. He will be questioned again on Friday, when it will be determined whether his detention will be extended or whether he would be released on bail. Grandic is suspected of having been connected to the alleged liquidation of citizens of Serb nationality the remains of whom have been exhumed recently.(hina) lml
