OSIJEK, Dec 28 (Hina) - Liberal party (LS) leader Zlatko Kramaric
told reporters in Osijek on Saturday that his party was not "in
crisis nor is it falling apart". #L#
Kramaric stated that nothing bad would happen to the party,
regardless of who was elected into its new leadership at an
electoral assembly on January 25.
Kramaric is dissatisfied with the party's rating and believes that
opinion polls, which indicate that for the time being only two
parties could pass the electoral threshold, prove the LS's claim
that "the political scene in Croatia is threatened by bipolarity
and conflicts between the left and the right".
The LS leader said he would request an explanation for a decision to
lay off 2,300 employees of the "Borovo" footwear factory, which he
said was mindless and proved that part of the ruling coalition did
not understand what had happened in the country in the past decade.
Kramaric dismissed speculation that his party was behind efforts to
replace Osijek County prefect Ladislav Bognar, who was given a vote
of no confidence at a recent session of the county assembly.
"The LS does not question the county coalition (SDP, LS, HSLS, HSS)
and does not want new elections, but we are not satisfied with the
way the county leadership is functioning and we want to reconsider
relations in the coalition," he said.
