Commenting on the party's leaving the ruling coalition, Budisa said
it was now obvious that it was not the HSLS which had been the factor
of dissension in the coalition, because "disagreements are of a
structural nature".
"The model of state governing has been exhausted in the economic,
social and moral sense, as well as in the sense of the corruption of
achieved democratic standards," Budisa said.
Speaking about the upcoming meeting between PM Ivica Racan and
other party leaders regarding a consensus on Croatia's candidacy
for EU membership, Budisa said that "Croatia's objective position
in Europe is its being part of the western Balkans architecture".
"Such a policy towards Croatia won't change after its EU
candidacy," he added.
"The EU candidacy will show whether the EU favours the individual
approach or the western Balkan one," he said.
The HSLS will oppose a consensus on the continuation of cooperation
with the International Monetary Fund because it means the
continuation of the sale of Croatian resources, Budisa said.
"Croatia has got only its coast, sea, forests and water left and if
we sell that too, we will jeopardise state foundations," he
stated.
