"We propose to all parliamentary parties to adopt the draft
resolution, besides a national programme, and it will be good to
confirm the inter-party agreement," Racan said.
According to him, the resolution underlines the firm intention of
all to contribute to the efficient and better work of parliament in
the country's bids to draw closer to the Union, as the goal of all
political forces is to intensify those bids.
The draft national programme for Croatia's moves in 2003 aimed at
accession into the Union was confirmed by the government last week.
As it is necessary to adopt the programme by the end of this year,
the government has requested parliament to hold an extraordinary
session.
At the government's session, Premier Racan called on political
parties to reach a consensus in the adoption of the national
programme and the resolution. The inter-party agreement is a
prerequisite for this.
The resolution defines the time term when Zagreb should apply for
association with the EU. The government proposes that the deadline
be late February next year.
