SARAJEVO, Dec 23 (Hina) - The House of Representatives of the
Bosnia-Herzegovina Parliament on Monday confirmed the appointment
of Adnan Terzic as chairman of the new Council of Ministers of the
country. #L#
Terzic was appointed premier delegate late last week and today he
received the vote from MP's of the three national parties - the
Party of Democratic Action (SDA), the Croatian Democratic Union
(HDZ) and the Serb Democratic Party (SDS) - joined by the Party of
Democratic Progress (PDP) and the Party for Bosnia.
The Party for Bosnia on Sunday decided that it would join the
coalition of national parties claiming that it wished to contribute
to the implementation of vital reforms.
The most influential opposition parties now consist of the Social
Democratic Party (SDP) and the Party of Independent Social
Democratise (SNSD) and they did not back Terzic's appointment.
In a speech before the House of Representatives, Terzic restricted
himself to general comments about the need for reforms and for the
democratisation of society.
"Reforms will be all-encompassing and in keeping with European
standards," the new premier said, expressing his desire to do more
to set up the rule of law and to enhance market economy, as well as to
develop social justice.
The fact that Terzic could not announce any of his ministers Terzic
justified with the fact that their appointment required extensive
consultation as well approval from the Office of the High
Representative.
