ZAGREB, Dec 27 (Hina) - Croatian President and Armed Forces' Supreme Commander Stjepan Mesic on Friday appointed Colonel General Marijan Marekovic commander of the Croatian Army Ground Forces.

Mesic made the decision on Marekovic's appointment and the
appointment of other officers in line with his constitutional and
legal authorities, at the proposal of the Army's Chief-of-Staff and
with the consent of the Defence Minister.
Commodore Zdravko Kardum was relieved of duty as commander of the
Croatian Navy Fleet and appointed Navy Commander.
Brigadier Viktor Koprivnjak was relieved of duty as Air Forces'
Chief-of-Staff and appointed Air Forces commander.
The decision takes effect on December 31, 2002, reads a statement
issued by the President's Office and signed by the head of the
President's military cabinet, Major-General Kresimir Kaspar.
