Minister Goran Svilanovic said on Thursday. #L#
As much as Yugoslavia's integration in European institutions was
slowed down by the constant delaying of talks on and adoption of a
charter regulating relations between Serbia and Montenegro, which
should happen in the next several days, the most visible progress
was made with regard to relations with neighbouring countries,
Svilanovic said, adding that it was impossible to draw closer to the
EU without having good relations with neighbours.
Issues which will be particularly important in 2003 include the
return of refugees and property restitution, the facilitation of
the visa regime with Croatia and the country's imminent admission
to the EU and progress towards Euro-Atlantic associations,
Svilanovic said, adding that admission to the EU would take several
years.
However, the most important issue is cooperation with the
international criminal tribunal in The Hague, Svilanovic said,
adding, "All who are indicted must be handed over. The tribunal will
not just disappear, it will not stop operating until the indicted
are transferred". The minister stated that the awareness of this
fact in the Serbian public was much higher than it used to be a year
ago.
