The president briefly referred to the recent signing of protocol
between Croatia and Yugoslavia on a temporary border regime for the
Prevlaka peninsula, which will end the U.N. mission of observers'
mandate in that region.
"With the agreement, we resolved the fundamental issue of reaching
the last point of the land border," Mesic said, stressing that the
Badinter Commission had ascertained that the republic borders in
the former Yugoslavia were to become the current countries'
boundaries.
"As far as the border on the sea is concerned, this is a temporary
solution and negotiations on that matter are continuing,"
President Mesic added.
