The Catholic news agency (KTA) quoted the religious leaders as
saying they regarded NATO's presence in Bosnia as an assurance that
there would be no more wars in their homeland.
They stressed that cooperation in and the existence of the Inter-
religious Council showed in the best way that the war in Bosnia was
not a religious one.
Admiral Johnson and Ambassador Nicholson encouraged the
dignitaries to continue working, in a dedicated manner, towards the
consolidation of peace, the building of tolerance and the
renovation of war-damaged religious facilities.
Present at the meeting were Sarajevo Archbishop, Cardinal Vinko
Puljic, the Islamic community's head, Reis Mustafa Ceric, and the
Jewish community's head, Jakob Finci. The report of the KTA agency
did not cite reasons for the absence of the Serb Orthodox leader
Nikolaj Mrdja, who represents Bosnian Serb faithful in the Inter-
religious Council.
