BELGRADE, Dec 19 (Hina) - The prosecution of The Hague-based
International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY)
has requested the ICTY to order Yugoslavia to hand the tribunal's
investigators relevant documents and grant them access to archives
and witnesses, the Belgrade-based Radio B92 reported. #L#
The prosecution forwarded the latest request after it had been
trying to obtain the requested materials for two years. The
Yugoslav government did not respond adequately or did not respond
at all to an unacceptably high number of requests, which
particularly refers to the hand-over of documents, the prosecution
said, stating that Yugoslavia's reaction pointed to its intention
of slowing down the administration of justice.
The prosecution has also asked to be allowed to get an insight into
some 20 documents on Slobodan Milosevic which refer to the Kosovo
part of the indictment. The requested documents are considered
crucial for the criminal prosecution of the former Yugoslav
president.
The prosecution also stated that the authorities in Belgrade had
fully met all requests referring to the investigation of crimes the
Kosovo Liberation Army committed against Serbs.
