ZAGREB, Dec 12 (Hina) - The Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) on Thursday hailed the departure of the UN Mission of Observers from the Prevlaka peninsula. The party expressed expectation that mines would be removed soon and
property-rights relations resolved in order that residents of Croatia's southernmost part at last be able to access their property. The Opposition party, however, expressed disagreement with and opposition to the section of the Croatia-Yugoslavia protocol referring to the sea regime. It is unacceptable that the Croatian government has rejected the principle of equal distance and agreed to joint control over sea in the Croatian waters, the party said in a statement. The HDZ insists that a solution to the issue of the demarcation line at sea be adopted in keeping with the International Convention on Law of the Sea and other relevant international documents.(hina) it sb
