In the statement, which was sent to Hina by the British Embassy in
Zagreb, Britain's minister for European affairs, Dennis MacShane,
congratulated the two countries on their peaceful resolution of the
Prevlaka issue, which he said could serve as an example to the
region.
The minister said that the protocol was an important step forward in
relations between the two countries and Great Britain hoped that
they would continue on the same path.
MacShane also hoped for a peaceful transfer of authority from the UN
Mission of Observers (UNMOP) on Prevlaka to the local authorities.
The UNMOP mandate expires on December 15.
