The agreement on Prevlaka clearly illustrates the virtues of
persistent and patient diplomacy in solving international disputes
and is a good basis for a final solution, reads a statement released
in Brussels on Tuesday evening.
Solana is particularly satisfied with the fact that the agreement
was achieved in direct talks between Croatia and Yugoslavia, and
thanks to Svilanovic's and Picula's great personal efforts.
Solana said that he also appreciated the constructive contribution
of Montenegrin authorities.
The agreement is proof of great progress in the normalisation of
relations between the two countries, which is a precondition for
regional cooperation and stability and closer relations with the
EU, the statement noted.
