ZAGREB, Dec 9 (Hina) - The presidency of the Social Democratic Party
(SDP) on Monday evening did not discuss Zdravko Tomac's statement
regarding the policy conducted by late President Franjo Tudjman
towards Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatian Prime Minister and SDP
president Ivica Racan said. #L#
"It was not necessary to discuss this," Racan said after the SDP
presidency session on Monday evening.
SDP member Zdravko Tomac said late last week at the symposium held
on the occasion of the third anniversary of the death of the first
Croatian President, Franjo Tudjman, that due to the current
situation in Bosnia and the position of Bosnian Croats he feared
that Tudjman was maybe right then and that he was wrong.
Racan said on Monday evening that the SDP as a democratic party
would not instigate the issue of responsibility of an individual
regarding dissonant attitudes in relation to the party's policy.
Racan reiterated that Tomac's statement was not the official
standpoint of the party "which Tomac himself had confirmed".
"He is probably aware that the SDP did not change its critical
standpoint towards Tudjman's policy towards Bosnia and that it will
not change it," the prime minister said.
Asked about what the party presidency was discussing for two and a
half hours, he said the SDP was discussing internal party meters.
He, however, did not speak about details of the meeting.
