The tree was felled in Gorski Kotar, a forest region in central
Croatia.
The ceremony of presenting the Christmas tree to the Pope will be
held in the afternoon on December 17. Croatian President Stjepan
Mesic, the president of the Croatian Bishops' Conference, Josip
Bozanic, and the administrator of the city-state of Vatican, Edmund
Kazimir Szoka, will hold breef speeches during the ceremony.
