"Considering the overall situation in the budget, the government
cannot offer changes in coefficients and basic wages," Deputy Prime
Minister Goran Granic said after negotiations with representatives
of civil servants' unions.
Granic said the government was ready to increase other material
rights.
According to a government's motion, this year's Christmas bonus
would amount to 500 kuna and gifts for children to 400 kuna. The base
for jubilee awards would remain 1,750 kuna, while compensation
would amount to 600 kuna.
The president of the civil servants' union, Ivica Ihas, said that
unionists continued to insist on a correction of wage
coefficients.
The new round of negotiations between the government and civil
servants' unions is scheduled for Tuesday, December 3.
