During the talks in Pristina, the two sides pointed to the
significant progress that has been made in Kosovo since the end of
the war.
Rugova reiterated that Kosovo's independence would present a
stability factor in the region.
Suesmuth said there were political issues that remained unsolved
despite the progress made recently.
The OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe)
representative held talks with Kosovan Premier Bajram Rexhepi as
well.
After the talks, the premier told reporters that he and the OSCE
delegation had considered bids to define Kosovo's final status.
"We have said that the definition of Kosovo's status should not be
delayed not only because that is what its population wants, but also
because any procrastination creates obstacles to economic
development and political stability," Rexhepi added.
