ZAGREB, Nov 26 (Hina) - The attorney of three defendants in the
trial of the so-called criminal organisation, Anto Nobilo, on
Tuesday announced that he would sue the state because his clients
Nikica Jelavic and Hrvoje Gasparinac spent three years in prison.

Jelavic, Gasparinac and Nobilo's third client, Zoran Pripuz, who is
at large, were acquitted on Tuesday.
Apart from suing the state for the time spent in detention, Nobilo
intends to sue the state on Jelavic's behalf for business losses he
suffered while in detention.
Nobilo said that the sentence was expected following the largest
judicial-media gossip ever.
According to Nobilo, the trial took place in 1999 "only because the
then ruling Croatian Democratic Union (HDZ) needed to score extra
points in the electoral race, and because later two judiciary
officials had to do the same to advance their careers".
Nobilo did not name anyone in particular.
The trial chamber of Zagreb County Court acquitted twelve indictees
charged with associating in a so-called criminal organisation
while five were sentenced to several years imprisonment for selling
drugs, attempted murder and some other crimes which were not
connected to the alleged criminal organisation.
