"I request the Italian government to intervene so as to help retain
our right to direct representation in parliament. Eliminating our
presence in the lawmaking body for making important decision,
Premier Ivica Racan wants to quell the voice of our minority on the
national level," MP Furio Radin wrote in his letter of complaint to
the Italian authorities.
The ministry for Italians abroad, headed by Mirko Tremaglia, said
in a statement today there would be no official reactions.
The Italian side is waiting for the further development of a debate
on the draft bill on minorities in the Croatian parliament, and as a
spokesman for Tremaglia's ministry said, no statements are
expected.
