This refers to companies that were caught illegally exploiting
quarries along the future Zagreb-Split motor way.
According to information from the State Inspector's Office,
Bechtel is required to pay damages amounting to 4.29 million euros,
Ingra about four million euros and Industrogradnja about 0.6
million euros.
These details were presented at a special session of the Sabor
committee for objections and reports, committee for environment
protection and housing and the committee for the economy and
development - which discussed illegal exploitation of raw minerals
from quarries.
The need for raw minerals has increased significantly with the
construction of the Zagreb-Split highway and so the State
Inspector's Office decided to bring more order into this field of
activity.
