partake in funds the European Commission earmarks for scientific research, participants in an international conference said in Cavtat on Tuesday.

The European Commission has earmarked EUR13.5 billion for the next
five years to fund scientific projects in countries aspiring to
join the European Union and associate member countries, among which
is Croatia.
The Commission has also secured EUR284 million for countries in
Southeast Europe. A competition for scientific projects will be
called in mid-December and offers will be accepted over a six-month
period.
The three-day Cavtat conference has been organised by the People's
Health School, the Medical School and the Science and Technology
Ministry. Besides European Commission representatives, attending
the event are about 90 participants from 13 countries of the
region.
