VALPOVO, Nov 5 (Hina) - Justice Minister Ingrid Anticevic-
Marinovic on Tuesday said she was "not impressed" by today's
statement of a Split County Court judge, Slavko Lozina, who accused
her of abuse of office and overstepping her authorities and who
announced that he would press charges against her for it. #L#
Minister Anticevic-Marinovic, who held a news conference in the
Social Democrat Party's (SDP) branch offices in the eastern town of
Valpovo, stressed that she did not abuse office nor overstep
authorities when she demanded that Lozina be relieved of his duty.
Responding to Lozina's claim that her demand represented her bid to
square accounts with judges who did not suit her because of their
political goals which they clearly advocated, Anticevic-Marinovic
said she had acted only according to the law on the State Judicial
Council (DSV) and the law on courts when she asked for Lozina's
replacement.
"I have never commented on 'the Lora case' or any other court
proceeding," she added.
Lozina expressed his opinion at a news conference which the
Croatian Judges' Association organised in Zagreb earlier in the
day. Anticevic-Marinovic was asked in Valpovo to comment on the
role the Association's president Vladimir Gredelj had in that.
She responded that she had never commented on the Association's
work, as she believed that good cooperation between it and her
ministry would be useful and might facilitate the judiciary's bids
to get its niche in society. She said she "expected more
constructive cooperation in that case."
