On Tuesday, the protesters staged a sit-in in the factory,
embittered with the announcement of the bankruptcy commissioner,
Miroslav Bors, that on 1 November, 137 of a total of 380 employees,
would be made redundant, while contracts on one-month-long
employment would be offered to the remaining workers.
The workers said they would stay in the factory until the resolution
of their problems was reached.
Bankruptcy commissioner Bors, however, turned down the workers'
requests, explaining that there was no legal basis for their
demands, and added that he could guarantee that only some 200
workers could have job in the coming month.
The union organised a van with a loud-speaker, cruising downtown in
Zagreb and calling citizens to embark on the struggle against
embezzlers and join "Naprijed" workers.
