"I am satisfied that Croatia is out of danger of being reported to
the UN Security Council and there were no new indictments," the
president of Libra, Jozo Rados, said following a meeting between
Premier Ivica Racan and coalitions partners relating to the details
of talks with Del Ponte. Rados believes that this is confirmation of
the good politics and the proper course being taken by the
government towards the Hague Tribunal, however, he added the Hague
continues to be a hot political potato.
The president of the Croatian People's Party (HNS), Vesna Pusic,
believes that it was important that the report to the Security
Council by the Chief Prosecutor does not mention Croatia as a
problem and that Del Ponte did not bring any new indictments nor
extend any existing ones.
The vice president of the Croatian Peasants' Party (HSS), Luka
Trconic, said that it was necessary to wait for a ruling by the ICTY
Council of Appeals. What is happening with regard to General
Bobetko is doing more harm than helping towards future co-operation
with the Hague, Trconic claimed and cautioned that they who were
calling on Croatian interests should be careful in what they were
doing and not to hamper Croatia with their actions.
The meeting with Premier Racan was not attended by representatives
from the Liberal Party (LS).
LS's secretary Helena Stimac - Radin told Hina that the LS was
unpleasantly surprised that they were not invited to this evening's
meeting even though they were part of the ruling coalition. She
stated, however, that LS was satisfied with the open talks between
Racan and Del Ponte. Their talks confirmed that Croatia can
continue to co-operate with the Hague and that the government was
aware that this was an unavoidable obligation for Croatia, LS's
secretary said.
