At the ceremony which took place at the Journalists' House in
Zagreb, Bobetko's wife, Magdalena, received the award, because of
the general's poor health needing medical house care.
The book is a compilation of works and ideals of General Bobetko, a
member of the jury, Marija Peakic-Mikuljan, said describing the
book also as "severe condemnation of the incumbent Croatian
government and its subservient mentality."
She added that the decision to give the award to Bobetko's book was
very easy to make because "this book barely had any real
competition"," but "the moment at which (the award) is being given
is the most difficult in the life" of its author.
Besides Bobetko's wife and son, the award ceremony was attended by
several retired Croatian army generals, officials of the Croatian
Democratic Union (HDZ) and Croatian True Revival (HIP) parties.
