City councillors of Split, too, supported parliament in the defence
of Bobetko.
The city council of Karlovac turned down a request by councillors
from the Croatian Democratic Union to send a letter of support to
Bobetko, with 13 votes against and nine in favour. Councillors of
the Croatian Peasant Party said the settlement of the "Bobetko
case" was not within the city council's competence. They supported
the government to find the best solutions for the protection of
national interests.
