The two ministers spoke about new projects and advancement in
tourist co-operation between the two countries for which there are
huge opportunities and interest on both sides.
The closeness of Dubrovnik is an advantage to Montenegro and for
Dubrovnik it means a richer excursion programme, Croatia's
minister said. Some new projects, that will be discussed in more
detail at their next meeting in Montenegro, encompass Konavle which
had until now been underdeveloped with regard to tourism despite
its potential.
There was also reference that one of the most significant areas in
future co-operation is Prevlaka for which plans exist to develop it
as a tourist attraction. Nevertheless, future investors will
decide exactly what type of development will occur there, or
rather, world tourist trends will determine this.
Expressing satisfaction for their mutual understanding and good
will, Montenegro's minister reminded of the need to improve the
system of passes on both sides of the border.
We are counting on all-round development of the region seeing that
it is of exceptional importance to tourists who come to both
countries, Nenezic said.
The security question of Prevlaka is history for us, we need to
think about the future and that entire region needs to be adapted to
developing tourism which can only be to the benefit to both
countries, he said.
Both ministers also agreed on the importance of border crossings,
and emphasised that a priority lay in the Debeli Brijeg crossing
which, as Nenezic said, will have 3.5 million euros invested in to.
