SPLIT: TWO WITNESSES TESTIFY AT LORA WAR CRIMES TRIAL

SPLIT, Oct 17 (Hina) - Two witnesses at the trial of eight former military policemen indicted for war crimes committed at Split's military prison Lora in 1992 said on Thursday there had not been anything unusual about the inmates at Lora. #L# Witness Ante Mamic, a Croatian Army officer, was a member of the Military Police's 72nd battalion in 1992. Although he was a driver, he worked as assistance coordinator for the battalion. Mamic said he knew most of the indictees, and that he had seen inmates in cells and in the prison yard while taking walks, but he had not noticed anything unusual about them. Witness Vedran Perisic, a former military policeman who worked in the prison as a guard, gave contradictory statements. (hina) rml sb
