In the statement, the ministry dismisses the writing of Zagreb's
daily "Vjesnik", which ran an article headlined "Because of Bobetko
Case, Croatia Left Short of American Assistance on Judicial
Reform". The ministry adds it never received a note by the US
Embassy about cancelling such assistance.
On the contrary, the ministry says, when the "Bobetko case" was
ongoing, the US Embassy financially helped with the organisation of
a seminar on October 9 at the ministry's offices, focusing on the
liability of companies for criminal acts. Deputy US Prosecutor
Craig Iscoe held a lecture at the seminar.
This was when further cooperation between the Justice Ministry and
the US Embassy was agreed on, the ministry says.
The US Embassy will organise expert training for prosecutors in
methods of discovering and processing crime in the area of economy,
the ministry says in a statement.
