That agreement has acted efficiently in preventing incidents and
has set the conditions to arrive at a final solution after
conditions improve, Drnovsek said evaluating Slovenian-Croatian
relations at a press conference dedicated to integration processes
and Slovenia's expectation to be involved in NATO and the European
Union.
Drnovsek said that contentious issues with Croatia were not a
barrier to membership to the EU and NATO because both organisations
consider that Slovenia has undertaken measures to resolve the issue
of the border.
According to Drnovsek, a final solution to the border dispute needs
to wait for better political conditions whether this be via
bilateral agreement or some other method, if an agreement cannot be
reached.
