The latest data refer to polling stations in Bosnia, although it is
believed the official outcome will hardly be changed by some 56,000
registered voters who cast their ballots abroad and may do so until
the 15th.
According to the latest results, Sulejman Tihic has beaten the more
favoured Haris Silajdzic as the Party of Democratic Action (SDA)
candidate for the Muslim seat in the collective state presidency.
Tihic won a little over three percent more votes than Silajdzic.
As the candidate for the Croat seat in the presidency, the Croatian
Democratic Union's (HDZ) Dragan Covic has won the vote of 61.83
percent of the Croat constituents, beating Mladen Ivankovic who won
17.43 percent of the vote.
The Serb Democratic Party's (SDS) Mirko Sarovic will occupy the
Serb seat in the state presidency. He won 39.7 percent of the vote.
The other SDS candidate, Dragan Cavic, is the new president of the
Bosnian Serb entity.
The strongest party in the race for the state parliament in the
Croat-Muslim entity, the Bosnian Federation, is SDA with 32.31
percent of the vote. The Party for BH (SBiH), the Social Democratic
Party (SDP), and HDZ follow with a little over 15 percent of the vote
each.
SDS won the highest number of votes in the Serb entity, Republika
Srpska - 38.5 percent. It is followed by the Party of Independent
Social Democrats (SNSD) with 25.44 percent of the vote, the Party of
Democratic Progress (PDP) with 11 percent, and three minor parties,
including the Radicals, with three percent of the vote.
The division of seats in the Bosnian Federation parliament's lower
house sees SDA first with 32.62 percent of the vote. It is followed
by HDZ, SDP, and SBiH with 15 percent each.
In the Republika Srpska parliament, SDS will have the highest
number of representatives after winning 34.72 percent of the vote.
SNSD follows with 24.89 and PDP with 12 percent. Another three minor
Serb parties will enter this parliament.
All results for parliamentary seats indicate that all sorts of
coalitions, and options, are possible. It is certain, however, that
SDP and SNSD will not enter any coalition including national
parties.
The final and official results and the exact number of MP mandates
will be known between Oct. 20 and 22.
