UNMIK says that in the first six months of this year, there have been
35 homicides, which is a significant decrease in relation to last
year when 136 and to 2000 when almost 600 murders were committed.
UNMIK spokesman Derek Chapell said that killings on the grounds of
ethnic intolerance had also lessened considerably.
Kosovo currently has 10,000 police, of which 4,500 come from 49
countries, while the rest are members of the Kosovo police.
