PRISTINA, Sept 16 (Hina) - The Austrian parliament's president, Heinz Fischer, on Monday arrived in Kosovo where he held talks with Kosovo Assembly's head, Nexhat Daci, and Premier Bajram Rexhepi.

After the talks with the Austrian guest, Rexhepi said he had asked
for Austria's engagement into the local economic and political
trends on a larger scale, adding that Austria always played an
important role in the region.
Fischer said his country was interested in the situation in the
region, and commended Kosovo for its latest progress.
On Monday evening Fischer was received by Kosovo President Ibrahim
Rugova.
On Tuesday he will tour Austrian troops deployed within
international Kosovo Force (KFOR).
Fischer is the first head of a European Union member-state's
parliament to have visited Kosovo.
