ZAGREB/STRASBOURG, Sept 27 (Hina) - The secretary-general of the Council of Europe, Walter Schwimmer, relayed his concern to Croatian authorities about their refusal to extradite Croatia's former Armed Forces chief-of-staff General
Janko Bobetko to the Hague-based international war crimes tribunal, and said he expected Croatia to urgently and unconditionally accept the tribunal's requests, the Council of Europe said in a press release Friday.
ZAGREB/STRASBOURG, Sept 27 (Hina) - The secretary-general of the
Council of Europe, Walter Schwimmer, relayed his concern to
Croatian authorities about their refusal to extradite Croatia's
former Armed Forces chief-of-staff General Janko Bobetko to the
Hague-based international war crimes tribunal, and said he
expected Croatia to urgently and unconditionally accept the
tribunal's requests, the Council of Europe said in a press release

Schwimmer said he had been informed about Croatia's complaints to
the indictment against Bobetko.
He hailed the clear message Croatian President Stjepan Mesic had
relayed during his recent address to the nation, pertaining to full
cooperation, in all cases and at all times. Schwimmer added he
expected Croatia to urgently and unconditionally meet the
tribunal's requests.
Schwimmer also reminded Croatian authorities that full cooperation
with the tribunal was a commitment Croatia had assumed upon entry
into the Council of Europe, the press release said.
