According to Thursday's issue of Sarajevo's daily "Oslobodjenje",
a state team for combating terrorism in Bosnia-Herzegovina in
cooperation with Interpol discovered that Nedal is in Switzerland
along with his wife, a Bosnian citzen, and two children.
Three months ago, Nedal managed to escape from Bosnia under
mysterious circumstances, even though the house he lived in was
under constant police surveillance because Bosnian authorities
decided to extradite him to Italy.
It is assumed that police officials have helped his escape and the
Interior Ministry of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina
announced a thorough investigation into the case, which has not
been completed to date.
Italian police issued a warrant for Nedal's arrest under suspicion
of being a member of the so-called Bologna Group, linked to Islamic
terrorism.
Nedal also has a thick police file in Bosnia, where he was arrested
for the first time in 1997, during an investigation into the attack
on a Catholic Church and Croatian returnees in Central Bosnia.
Later it was established that he was involved in weapons' smuggling
and robberies, which is why his Bosnian citizenship was revoked.
Nedal acquired Bosnian citizenship after participating in the war
in Bosnia as a member of El Moujahedeen units.
