BELGRADE, Sept 11 (Hina) - The anniversary of the terrorist attack
on the US was marked in Belgrade on Wednesday in the presence of US
Ambassador to Yugoslavia William Montgomery and Serbian Premier
Zoran Djindjic. #L#
In his speech, US Ambassador Montgomery said that September 11 was
the day of remembering all those who were killed in last year's
terrorist attack when over three thousand people were killed of
whom 90 were foreigners including five Yugoslavs.
The message of the September 11 attack is that we need to remember
the victims and their families but at the same time to offer support
to complete the fight that was started against terrorism. "We were
successful last year but it could be a long battle and we need to
persist in it," Montgomery said.
Serbian Premier Zoran Djindjic expressed hope that the world had
learned something, primarily that not one political objective
justifies the application of violence and claimed that the
terrorist attack on the US brought into question some foundations
of Western civilisation which, as he said, "lie on expanding multi-
nationalism".
