Croatian president and supreme army commander Stjepan Mesic's
envoy, retired general Martin Spegelj, said that during the
Homeland Defence War the Navy had executed all of its tasks and
currently its duty was to ensure that the sea, islands and coast be
safe as to attract tourists and foreign investments.
An envoy of the defence minister and of the army chief-of-staff,
Vice Admiral Davorin Kajic, said the re-organisation of the armed
forces, which should start in October, would not cause disorder and
layoffs or weakness in the defence abilities of the military.
The re-organisation will bring about fairer incomes, the promotion
of those who have deserved it and systematic training and
education, he added.
HRM Commander Vice Admiral Vid Stipetic spoke about the
establishment of the navy and its contribution to the Homeland
Defence War in which 57 HRM members lost their lives.
